Dental Implants Near You

Dental implants are ideal for replacing missing teeth and fixing loose dentures. Made from biocompatible titanium, they provide support for a patient’s jawbone and other dental structures that may be necessary like crowns, bridges, or dentures. The results of this treatment are long-lasting; with good care, the implants can serve you well for almost a lifetime.

What Does the Process Look Like?

Getting implants requires a number of visits over several months.

X-rays and molds of the jaw and teeth are taken to check the bone, gum tissue, and space for the implant. Once the area is numb, the implant is surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal for up to six months. Depending on the type of implant, a second procedure may be needed to place the “post” that will hold the new tooth. For other types of implants, the post and anchor are placed together in one procedure.

After a few weeks of healing, the artificial teeth are created and attached to the post part of the implant. This process may take one to two months because multiple fittings might be needed. Once fully healed, the artificial teeth are securely attached, providing the patient with stability and comfort.

After your treatment, you will receive care instructions to follow. Keeping good oral hygiene, healthy eating habits, and visiting the dentist in Airdrie regularly will help your implant last longer.
